Though I drew the Feisar machine in the background, I actually did not buy WipEout 2048. I did play a few rounds of HD on the PS3, if that counts.

Anyway, so the Vita is here, and I was pretty excited to get it!
And I have pretty much unlocked everything in Lumines in less than 2 hours, except for the endless grinding for avatars. I’ve loved (and played) all the games since the PSP launch, but am I the only one that feels that none of them have matched the aesthetics (and songs) of the original?

Throwing up some sketches from figure drawing. Lots of threes and fives, with some ten-minute ones. I first initially handled the ten minute ones pretty badly, since I was worrying about getting in the details instead of focusing on the weight.
Oddly so, the standing figure is giving me the most trouble still. Probably because it involves some subtlety in translating weight and balance, as opposed to being able to exaggerate that a bit in other stances.
Still drawing torsos too skinny/long, arghhhh.

But goddamn, my warm-up sketches are pretty bad!

I know it seems like I’m not putting effort into these more stylized drawings, but the more I try to invest more refinement into it, the worse it looks. It’s really difficult to adapt to the standards that you accidentally set for yourself, so this did take an embarrassingly long amount of time.
That, and I threw out a previous sketch. D:

I’ll probably throw on my life drawing sketches tomorrow.

Couldn’t really push myself too much today. I got hit with some serious nausea and fingers were too cold to hold a pen properly for a while. Regardless, I really wanted to draw this sort of scene the moment I picked up this style.

Anyway, reminder that the stream is pushed back to its regular time at 9pm PST (possibly later), since I’ll be out on a figure drawing session tomorrow.

First set in today’s figure drawing was some five minute warm-ups, then three minute gesture breakdown, then five minutes into more weight and flow sketching.
A bit less awkward today; drawing smaller definitely helped. Looking a bit forward to homework this week.

I noticed Pascal doing some stylized sketches, so I decided to give it a shot. Couldn’t really stylize the faces as much as I would have liked to, but I think I sort of managed to get the proportions somewhat acceptable. Fun thing to do, nonetheless.

So my homework for the week is to memorize and use a proportion guide for some figure drawings. However, this is a pretty different approach to how I draw regularly, since I have to be forced to think my steps through. I (still) initially had some problems with the torsos looking too long, but I think I’m sort of getting used to it.
