Pushing paint

Kind of going off from yesterday, I picked up an older drawing and started mucking around with it.
It’s far from perfect since I rushed through it, and the values aren’t very good.

I should probably do some color studies next; I’m probably the weakest there.

What, specifically, is being done at the “Blend” phase? is there a literal Blend tool?

There’s a watercolor brush with specific settings that I use in openCanvas where it pulls colors from the environment and spreads it around. I use that to help set a gradient.

Sort of a followup from yesterday: so you say “highlight and depth” – does this mean very dark values and highlights are being added/cleaned in this phase in order to emphasize the contrast and 3-d look of the painting?

    Real nice!
These types of stages of painting are really helpful, will we see more?
